Sparks Regional’s center to reach 400 joint replacements in 2017: 5 highlights

The Orthopedic and Spine Center at Sparks Regional Medical Center surgeons will soon perform the center’s 400th joint replacement, according to the Times Record. The center is located in Fort Smith, Ark.

Here are five highlights:

 

1. The Orthopedic and Spine Center, which features four independent Forth Smith-based Cooper Clinic surgeons, opened in September 2015.

 

2. By the end of 2016, surgeons had performed 377 successful knee and hip surgeries.

 

3. The center’s surgeons perform more knee replacements than hip replacements.

 

4. Sparks Regional reports the average length of stay for the center’s patients average 1.8 days, with 90 percent of patients heading home as opposed to a rehabilitation center.

 

5. The center reports an 85 percent satisfaction rate, based on a patient survey.
