Here’s what you should know.
1. Mr. Middleton will go through a six month rehabilitation process. He suffered the injury during a preseason workout on Sept. 20. Last season, Mr. Middleton averaged a career-high in points, assists and steals.
2. Dr. Altchek is an orthopedic surgeon and the co-chief emeritus in sports medicine and shoulder service at the New York-based Hospital for Special Surgery.
3. Dr. Altchek is the medical director of the Mets and a consultant for the NBA. He previously was the North American Director for the Association of Tennis Professionals, and he was a team physician for the U.S. Davis Cup team.
4. Throughout his career, Dr. Altchek has authored more than 100 articles and book chapters.
