Medscape surveyed 19,200 physicians in more than 26 specialties. Of that total, 4,162 respondents were under 40 years old, qualifying as ‘young physicians.’
Here are five statistics:
1. Following orthopedists, young dermatologists made $312,000, followed by anesthesiologists ($309,000).
2. Young cardiology physicians made $307,000 each year, followed by gastroenterologists ($294,000) and emergency medicine physicians ($292,000).
3. Young pediatricians fell at the bottom of the list with an annual salary of $157,000.
4. Young ophthalmologists made $235,000 on average, with young nephrologists making slightly less at $233,000.
5. Young general surgeons made $225,000, each year.
