NHRMC seeks to construct new $87M orthopedic & spine hospital — 6 notes

Wilmington, N.C.-based New Hanover Regional Medical Center plans to construct a new orthopedic and spine hospital.

Here are six notes:

 

1. NHRMC filed a certificate of need with North Carolina on June 15.

 

2. The medical center wants to move 68 beds from the NHRMC Orthopedic Hospital to a new patient tower.

 

3. This location shift would offer providers and patients better access in the inpatient orthopedic department.

 

4. The new 134,000-square-foot center would house 108 rooms spanning three floors.

 

5. Pending CON approval, NHRMC would commence the construction in 2017. Construction would take between three years and five years to complete.

 

6. NHRMC estimates the new hospital will cost $87 million.
