Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Juan Alzate of The American Center for Spine & Neurosurgery

Board-certified neurosurgeon Juan Alzate, MD, serves patients at The American Center for Spine & Neurosurgery, Libertyville, Ill.

He specializes in minimally invasive spine surgery, complex and minimally invasive endoscopic cranial-base surgery and chiari malformations. An author of many journal articles and book chapters, Dr. Alzate has spoken at numerous conferences both in the United States and Colombia.

 

Dr. Alzate was a research scholar at the Free University in Berlin, Germany and George Washington University in Washington, D.C., with a focus on endoscopic approaches to the brain and spine.

 

After earning his medical degree from Universidad Del Valle in Colombia, Dr. Alzate completed his neurosurgery residency Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. He completed his fellowship at Beth Israel Medical Center in Boston.
