Orthopedic surgeon leader to know: Dr. Guido Marra of Northwestern Medicine

Guido Marra, MD, is director of the shoulder and elbow surgery service and professor of orthopedic surgery at Chicago-based Northwestern Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and American Society of Shoulder. He is treasurer-elect of the Elbow Surgeons and Association of Bone and Joint Surgeons.

Dr. Marra focuses on shoulder and elbow arthroplasty as well as revision and reverse surgeries. He lectures nationally and internationally on the surgical management of shoulder and elbow disorders. He serves on the board of Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. His work has been published in numerous journals, including Journal of Surgical Orthopaedic Advances and the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.

 

Dr. Marra earned his medical degree at University of Illinois at Chicago. He completed his residency at Maywood, Ill.-based Loyola University Medical Center. He has completed numerous fellowships, including a shoulder fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center in New York City and an elbow fellowship at Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.
