Large physician groups show increased satisfaction with EHR vendors; some still frustrated with interoperability issues: 4 takeaways

The annual Black Book ambulatory EHR user satisfaction poll found most physician groups are ready for integrated practice management, revenue cycle management and electronic health record usability.

The poll included 44 medical and surgical specialties.

 

Here are four takeaways:

 

1. Of physician groups surveyed, 84 percent reported their EHR vendor is “meeting or exceeding” expectations for EHR optimization.

 

2. The poll found the following three vendors as highest ranked for overall large group practice satisfaction and client loyalty:

 

•    Allscripts
•    Marshield Clinic Information Services
•    athenahealth

 

3. Thirty-three percent of physician groups are frustrated with lack of interoperability with payers and other providers via their EHR systems.

 

4. Twenty-nine percent of physician groups noted their vendors have not simplified the implementation and training process.
