Dr. Matthew Kaufman lectures at American Spinal Injury Association meeting: 5 takeaways

Neptune City, N.J.-based Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s Matthew Kaufman, MD, presented at the American Spinal Injury Association National Annual Meeting in Philadelphia.

1. His presentation was titled, “Diaphragm Muscle Replacement with Implanted Pacemaker to Reverse Ventilator Dependency in Cervical Tetraplegia.”

 

2. He received the second place award for his presentation.

 

3. Dr. Kaufman serves at the Center for Treatment of Paralysis and Reconstructive Nerve Surgery at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.

 

4. Between 500 and 700 people attended the ASIA meeting. Most participants are physicians, psychologists, researchers, nurses, therapists, counselors, case managers and administrators.

 

5. The meeting focused on spinal cord injury research.
