UConn John Dempsey Hospital includes 2 spine, neurosurgery ORs in new suite: 4 points

UConn John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, Conn., opened a new operating suite, which included two dedicated operating rooms for neurosurgery and spine surgery, according to UConn Today.

Here are four points:

 

1. The neurosurgery- and spine surgery-focused ORs are 800,000 square feet each.

 

2. Robotic spine surgery procedures will be performed in these ORs.

 

3. UConn John Dempsey Hospital is the first in New England to offer patients spine surgery using the Mazor Robotics Renaissance Guidance System.

 

4. The operating suite also includes three general surgery rooms, two heart surgery rooms, two total joint orthopedic surgery rooms and one general orthopedic surgery room as well as a post-anesthesia care unit.
