Marc Philippon, MD, is scheduled to perform hip surgery on Oakland A’s Mark Canha, according to a SF Gate report.

1. Mr. Canha has excess bone growth at the top of his left femur that needs to be shaved down.

 

2. The procedure will end Mr. Canha’s season.

 

3. Dr. Philippon is a managing partner, sports medicine/hip disorders at The Steadman Clinic as well as a co-chairman and board member at Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Vail, Colo.

 

4. He is a Founding Member of the International Society of Hip Arthroscopy.

 

5. He has treated nearly 1,000 professional and Olympic athletes.
