Climber with 2 knee replacements attempts to climb Everest — 4 highlights

A climber is attempting to be the first person with a double knee replacement to climb Mount Everest, according to SYS-CON Media.

Here are four highlights:

 

1. Draper, Utah-based Ortho Development manufactured the climber’s knee implants, and is sponsoring his summit attempt.

 

2. E. Marc Mariani, MD, and Benjamin J. Hansen, MD, of Salt Lake Orthopaedic Clinic in Salt Lake City, performed the climber’s knee replacements.

 

3. The surgeons implanted Ortho Development’s Balanced Knee System.

 

4. This will be the climber’s third attempt of climbing Everest.
