Spine surgeon leader to know: Dr. Duane Pitt of Desert Institute for Spine Disorders

Board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon Duane Pitt, MD, has performed more than 5,000 spinal procedures. He specializes in cervical, thoracic, lumbar and sacral spine disorders and performs minimally invasive spine surgery. He treats back pain and scoliosis, among other conditions.

Dr. Pitt serves as a spine surgery consultant for the San Francisco Giants, Phoenix Suns, Arizona State University athletics department and Los Angeles of Anaheim. He founded the nonprofit International Surgical Foundation, which provides spine services to patients in the Dominican Republic.

 

Dr. Pitt also served as an aerospace medicine flight surgeon for the California Air National Guard.

 

After earning his medical degree from University of California, Irvine School of Medicine, Dr. Pitt completed his general surgery internship and orthopedic surgery residency at Loma Linda (Calif.) University Medical Center. He then completed his spine fellowship at University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
