The Medscape Orthopedics Lifestyle Report 2016: Bias and Burnout places orthopedists at the fourth-most obese specialty, with 46 percent of orthopedists reporting obesity. Here are the top 10 specialties:
1. Pulmonary medicine: 51 percent
2. Family medicine: 49 percent
3. Emergency medicine: 47 percent
4. Orthopedics: 46 percent
5. Cardiology: 46 percent
6. OB/GYN: 46 percent
7. Surgery: 45 percent
8. Urology: 43 percent
9. Internal medicine: 43 percent
10. Anesthesiology: 43 percent
Despite the high percentage of obese orthopedists, 69 percent also reported exercising at least twice per week. Orthopedists were only second behind dermatologist for the highest percentage of physicians exercising at least twice per week.
