Here are four notes:
1. The AMA joins more than 640 patient advocacy organizations, professional societies, medical organizations as well as thousands of patients participating in the campaign.
2. The campaign emphasizes clinical trial transparency and the ethics of conducting trials.
3. American College of Physicians, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Psychiatric Association and American Medical Students Association all endorsed the campaign.
4. The initiative was launched in July 2015.
“The AMA strongly supports improving the timeliness and accessibility of clinical trial data to reduce the duplication of research and help inform future research – ultimately, improving health outcomes for patients,” said Steven J. Stack, MD, AMA president.
