James Andrews, MD, will perform Tommy John, or elbow, surgery Miami Marlins’ pitcher Carter Capps, according to a CBS Sports report.

1. Mr. Capps is expected to join the Marlins again in the first third of the 2017 season.

 

2. Dr. Andrews is the founder of the Andrews Institute for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in Gulf Breeze, Fla.

 

3. He is president and chairman of the board of the Andrews Research and Education Foundation dedicated to prevention, education and research at the Andrews Institute.

 

4. He is a senior consultant for the Washington Redskins and the orthopedic medical director for the Tampa Bay Rays.
