Robert Anderson, MD, performed foot surgery on Memphis Grizzlies’ center Marc Gasol, according to a Fox Sports report.

1. Dr. Anderson repaired a non-displaced type II fracture of the navicular bone in Mr. Gasol’s right foot.

 

2. Mr. Gasol will be out for the rest of the season.

 

3. Dr. Anderson is a founding member of the Foot & Ankle Institute at Charlotte, N.C.-based OrthoCarolina.

 

4. He is a past president of the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.

 

5. Drew Murphy, MD, of Germantown, Tenn.-based Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics, was also present for the procedure. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
