Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center is the first hospital in the state to offer patients Mazor Robotics Renaissance Spine Surgery, according to NorthJersey.com.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Mazor Robotics Renaissance Spine Surgery is a minimally invasive guidance system for spine surgery.

 

2. The technology has been clinically validated to ensure 1.5 mm accuracy, making the technology safer for patients than freehand spine surgery.

 

3. Using Mazor Robotics technology, surgeons can preplan the surgery in a CT-based three-dimensional simulation of the patient’s spine.

 

4. Mazor Robotics Renaissance is 99 percent accurate.
