Neurosurgeon Dr. William Mayher III dies at 77

William Mayher III, MD, died in Athens, Ga., on Jan. 31, according to Albany Herald. He practiced neurosurgery in Albany, Ga., until 1998.

Dr. Mayher served as chairman of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia as well as chairman of the Medical College of Georgia Foundation Board. He also served on the board of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons.

 

He was the board chair for Gray TV and previously served as the Albany-Dougherty Aviation Commission Chair.

 

Dr. Mayher received his medical degree from the Medical College Georgia in Augusta, where he also completed his neurological surgery residency.
