The Caribbean Spine and Research Institute introduces new facilities in San Juan: 5 things to know

The Caribbean Spine and Research Institute in Puerto Rico partnered with Ashford Presbyterian Community Hospital in Condado to launch its new facilities in San Juan, according to Caribbean Business.

Here are five things to know:

 

1. Fernando Villamil, MD, is the founder of CSRI, and is among the less than 10 orthopedic surgeons in Puerto Rico who specialize in spine surgery.

 

2. CRSI will offer patients basic treatment for spinal conditions as well as more complex treatments, including surgery.

 

3. The orthopedic practice is the only institution in Puerto Rico that specializes in minimally invasive techniques, said Dr. Villamil.

 

4. The Presbyterian Hospital in Puerto Rico performs between 400 and 500 spinal surgeries annually.

 

5. In addition to providing specialized procedures, CSRI will serve as a research center for different spinal conditions, as well as a training facility for surgeons from the United States and different Latin American countries. More articles on spine:
