8 key notes on state Medicaid progress

States are at different places for Medicare enrollment and ACA implementation, with different challenges and issues, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey.

Here are eight key notes from the report:

 

1. Thirty-seven states have processing eligibility determinations within 24 hours or less.

 

2. All 50 states have online Medicaid applications.

 

3. Thirty-nine states have online Medicaid accounts.

 

4. All but one state has the telephone application.

 

5. Thirty-four states use ex parte/automated renewals.

 

6. Forty-one states do telephone renewals.

 

7. The higher-functioning systems in states help enroll more eligible low-income people and keep eligible individuals enrolled.

 

8. Forty-seven states are up-to-date with processing Medicaid renewals.
