Orthopaedic Institute for Children hires Jamie Wells as ASC clinical director: 5 key notes

Orthopaedic Institute for Children hired Jamie Wells, RN, as clinical director for the new ambulatory surgery center.

The new surgery center is expected to open in the spring and will be the first standalone facility designed for outpatient orthopedic pediatric surgical care in downtown Los Angeles.

 

Here are five things to know about Ms. Wells:

 

1. She was previously director of nursing for the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic’s surgery center in Los Angeles. The practice focuses on sports medicine and its physicians pioneer treatment for sports injuries and illnesses.

 

2. Ms. Wells has experience working at MemorialCare Outpatient Surgical Center, West Coast Surgery Center and Cerritos Surgery Center.

 

3. She graduated from Jacksonville University in Florida and earned her associate of science in nursing at El Camino College in California.

 

4. Ms. Wells is certified in basic cardiac life support, advanced cardiac life support and pediatric advanced life support.

 

5. In her new role as clinical director, Ms. Wells will be a big part of the new surgery center. The Orthopaedic Institute for Children receives more than 60,000 patient visits each year. The facility has an alliance with UCLA Health and receives support from the OIC Foundation.
