NBA, General Electric Healthcare seek research proposals on tendon injuries — 5 notes

To learn more about tendon injuries, the NBA and General Electric Healthcare partnered in July to implore researchers to study tendon injuries, according to ESPN.

1. The NBA made the announcement for research proposals on Monday.

 

2. The announcement follows a meeting between the NBA commissioner Adam Silver and GE Healthcare U.S. and Canada President and CEO Marcelo Mosci as well as NBA and GE executives.

 

3. The goal of the partnership is to better understand injuries impacting NBA players.

 

4. Researchers can submit research proposals until Feb. 10, 2016.

 

5. John DiFiori, MD, NBA director of sports medicine, and a team of sports medicine professionals on the collaborative strategic advisory board will review the proposals. The NBA formed a 20-person strategic advisory board in July. The team consists of physicians and clinical researchers from different fields.
