8 ways physicians are boosting practice revenue

Here are eight steps physicians have taken to boost revenue at their practices, according to the 2015 Physician Compensation Survey conducted by Physicians Practice.

•    Increased the number of patients seen per day — 32 percent
•    Taken on work outside of my practice — 25.2 percent
•    Added ancillary services — 23 percent
•    Adjusted payer mix (including dropping low-paying plans) — 18.2 percent
•    Changed to a direct-pay, concierge or hybrid-concierge practice — 6.7 percent
•    Started an in-house dispensary — 3.8 percent
•    Started charging for patient portal or e-visits — 2.6 percent
•    None — 27 percent  

 

Note: The survey includes responses from approximately 1,426 physicians.
