Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Larry Pedegana dies at 74

Larry Pedegana, MD, the former Seattle Mariner’s team physician, died of cancer at 74 years old on Nov. 13, according to The Seattle Times. Dr. Pedegana served the team from 1977 through 2006, and was the team’s first medical director. While with the team, Dr. Pedegana performed hundreds of surgeries on the athletes.

He had a private practice with Orthopedics International in Seattle.

 

A board-certified orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Pedegana received his medical degree from the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry in Canada. He then completed an internship at the University Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, and a residency at the University of Washington in Seattle.
