McGill University Health researcher honored with top Canadian spine research award: 4 key notes

Dr. Samuel David of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Quebec, received the 2015 Barbara Turnbull Award for Spinal Cord Research, according to McGill.

1. The award honors those who raise awareness about and research treatments for spinal cord injuries.

 

2. Dr. David is currently researching the controlling mechanisms of the delivery and release of iron in the nervous system.

 

3. His work has allowed a better understanding of spinal cord and brain injury damage, and how to establish recovery after damage.

 

4. The Barbara Turnbull Award for Spinal Cord Research awards the recipient $50,000.
