Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. J. Dean Cole of Florida Hospital

J. Dean Cole, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon practicing at Florida Hospital in Orange. He serves as the medical director at Florida Hospital Fracture Care Center. Dr. Cole specializes in complex procedures for deformity correction, limb lengthening, bone infection treatment, calcaneus factures, limb salvage and nonunions/malunions.

Dr. Cole invented the Intramedullary Skeletal Kinetic Distractor, the only FDA-approved internal device for limb lengthening. Additionally, he holds the patent to more than a dozen surgical devices as well as the patent to many screws and nails designed for healing after trauma.

 

Dr. Cole obtained his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he also completed his orthopedic surgery residency. He went on to finish his orthopedic trauma fellowship at University of Texas Medical School in Houston.
