Here are five notes:

1. AANS Neurosurgeon is AANS’ socioeconomic publication, written by neurosurgeons.

2. The September 2015 issue focuses on patients and their families.

3. Patients’ personal stories of recovery from spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, brain cancer, subdural hematoma and other conditions are included in the issue.

4. Many of the patients included in the issue are neurosurgeons, themselves.

5. This edition was released in early September, along with a redesigned website.

“We hope this will help neurosurgical readers to remain aware and supportive of their patients’ needs, and to not gloss over the persistent problems that may seem minor in comparison to what could have been,” said Michael Schulder, MD, FAANS, editor of AANS Neurosurgeon.
