Here are four key notes:
1. The gift from Jill and Lee Kort will support the Kort Family Foundation Brain and Spinal Cord Tumor Research Program in the Division of Neurosurgery.
2. The program will focus on comprehensive studies on central nervous system tumors to better understand how they develop and how to treat them.
3. The funds may also be used in the creation of a genetic tumor bank at CHLA.
4. The Kort family donated the money after CHLA neurosurgeons successfully treated their daughter who developed a spinal cord tumor.
