Dr. Arakal is a fellow in the American Association of Orthopaedic Surgeons and serves as the spine consultant for the Michael Johnson Athletic Performance Center for the treatment of college and professional athletes, among many other roles. He has helped with the development of the Spine Trauma Protocols, Spine Service Line at the Regional Trauma Center at Medical Center of Plano, where he is the director of orthopedic spine.
Dr. Arakal received his medical degree from New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark, N.J. He completed a general surgery internship at University Hospital, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, and an orthopedic surgery residency at New Jersey Medical School, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Arakal finished his spine surgery fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas Medical Center.
