Orthopedic surgeon to know: Dr. Phil Downer of Orthopedic Specialists of Seattle

Phil Downer, MD, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with a special interest in hip and knee preservation surgery. Specifically, Dr. Downer treats many younger patients with hip problems, such as hip dysplasia or hip impingement.

In addition to the Orthopaedic Specialists of Seattle, Dr. Downer is also affiliated with Swedish Medical Center-Cherry Hill Campus in Seattle.

 

Dr. Downer performs over 250 hip replacements annually, primarily through the tissue-sparing surgery approach.

 

Dr. Downer completed a medical degree and residency at Memorial University Medical School in Canada. He is also fellowship-trained in pelvic osteotomies and complex joint reconstruction from the Mueller Foundation in Bern, Switzerland. Dr. Downer also holds a Masters in Business Administration from INSEAD, one of Europe’s top business schools.
