DePuy Synthes invests $60M in expanded manufacturing plant in Ireland: 4 things to know

DePuy Synthes opened a new $60 million expanded manufacturing facility in Ringaskiddy, Ireland, according to a report by The Irish Times.

Here are four things to know:

 

1. Currently, the company employs 800 people at the new facility, and 80 more jobs will be added.

 

2. The 320,000-square-foot manufacturing plant primarily manufactures orthopedic knee and hip replacement devices.

 

3. The plant includes a laboratory to further quality testing methods.

 

4. DePuy Synthes is a major competitor in the global orthopedic device market. It holds nearly 50 percent of the market share in the motion preservation device market.
