Spinal deformity Radiographic Measurement Manual now online — 5 things to know

The Scoliosis Research Society partnered with the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation to make the Spinal Deformity Study Group’s Radiographic Measurement Manual available online.

Here are five key notes on the manual:

 

1. It was published in 2008 by Medtronic Sofamor Danek USA.

 

2. Chief editors were Michael F. O’Brien, MD; Timothy R. Kuklo, MD; Kathy M. Blanke, RN; and Lawrence G. Lenke, MD.

 

3. The manual standardizes techniques for radiographic measurement of common spinal deformities.

 

4. There is input from several other spine surgeons, including Keith H. Bridwell, MD; Christopher L. Hamill, MD; William C. Horton, MD; Hubert B. Labelle, MD, David W. Polly Jr., MD; B. Stephens Richards III, MD; Pierre Roussouly, MD; and James O. Sanders, MD.

 

5. The manual includes analysis for spinal deformities in both children and adults.
