2. Dr. ElAttrache is also a team physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers.
3. The recovery period is typically more than one year, and not every player returns to their baseline abilities. But several players have still had successful careers post-procedure. “I’m not going through [Tommy John surgery] alone,” Mr. McCarthy told Daily News. “Any questions that I have, there’s so much experience, I won’t hesitate to ask somebody.”
4. In addition to performing Tommy John surgery, Dr. ElAttrache also was consulted by the St. Louis Cardinals regarding pitcher Adam Wainwright’s ruptured Achilles’ tendon, reports STLToday.com
