Dr. Lalonde is a surgeon at Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. While most teaching fellowships bring international surgeons to the United States, Dr. Lalonde’s fellowship allows the surgeons to study in their home countries. Surgeons from America and Canada travel to Africa for two-week stretches to teach hand surgery and therapy.
During his career, Dr. Lalonde helped develop a new procedure for awake hand surgery. This is helpful to lower the cost of surgery, which is important in Africa as well as in the United States and Canada.
