Here are five findings from the brief:
• In 2010, 310,800 total hip replacements were performed among inpatients 45 years and older.
• The number of THR procedures increased 138,700 in 2000 to 310,800 in 2010.
• The rate of THR procedures increased from 142.2 to 257 per 100,000 people, between 2000 and 2010.
• The percentage of THR procedures among younger age groups increased, whereas it decreased for older age groups.
• The average length of stay after a THR procedure decreased from nearly five days in 2000 to just under four days in 2010.
