Mr. Schmidt is likely to stay off the ice for at least six weeks as a result of the injury, though his doctor said that it doesn’t require surgery.
Dr. Black completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Rochester, and developed a sports medicine program at the Medical College of Wisconsin shortly thereafter. In 2001, he became chairman of the department of orthopedics and rehabilitation at Penn State Hershey Bone and Joint Institute.
