HealthTrust names Dr. Michael Schlosser CMO — 5 things to know

Michael J. Schlosser, MD, was named chief medical officer for HealthTrust.

He will begin his new position reporting to HealthTrust President and CEO Ed Jones on Feb. 2, 2015.

 

“Adding a full-time CMO is a continued investment in advancing a clinical agenda that supports our member providers and the outcomes so critical to their success,” said Mr. Jones. “The CMO will also bring a new level of expertise to clinical value analysis — increasingly a critical part of the way medical supplies and, in particular, physician preference items are selected and sourced.”

 

Here are five things to know about Dr. Schlosser:

 

1. He has been chief of staff and chief of surgery at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

 

2. Before becoming HealthTrust’s CMO, he was medical director for Parallon Supply Chain Solutions.

 

3. He is now pursuing an MBA at Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Business.

 

4. Dr. Schlosser earned his medical degree at Yale University School of Medicine and completed his neurosurgery residency and fellowship at Johns Hopkins University.

 

5. His clinical practice focuses on minimally invasive spine procedures, X-stop.
