The MySpine uses Medacta’s three-dimensional reconstruction and rapid three-dimensional printing technologies for customized patient-specific surgical guides. Here are five quick facts about the first procedure:

• Dr. Manos reported a high level of precision and accuracy.

“The customized pre-operative process provides a high level of procedure and accuracy,” said Dr. Manos. “This cuts down on the overall time of the procedure, and will help us deliver more efficient care to the multiple patients we see each day with challenging spinal cases.”
The technology gained FDA approval in 2015 and is the first product available to produce patient-specific guides for the spinal vertebrae using the proprietary CT scan algorithms and three-dimensional medical printing technology.
A study recently published in the Journal of Spinal Disorder and Techniques on the MySpine clinical experience showed none of the 76 screws placed had complications and 96.1 percent were placed within less than 2 mm cortical breech.
