Dean Chou, MD (University of California San Francisco Spine Center). Dr. Chou is a neurosurgeon with UCSF Medical Center with a special interest in minimally invasive spine surgery. He performs even complex spinal disorder cases with less invasive procedures.

 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Chou is a charter member of the Spinal Oncology Study Group and serves on the faculty of UCSF. He teaches nationally and internationally and his research has been published in several professional journals. Recently, a study he worked on about the effects of smoking on fusion rates and outcomes appeared in the journal Neurosurgery.

 

Dr. Chou earned his medical degree at UCSF School of Medicine and completed his residency in neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. His additional training includes a spine surgery fellowship at Barrow Neurological Institute.
