The outpatient surgery treats lumbar spinal stenosis, a condition which can lead to immobility. This procedure is less invasive because it is performed using a needle thorough a 5.1 mm incision while the patient is under a local and mild anesthesia. The MILD device is used to increase the spinal canal’s diameter, removing bone and tissue, which cause the patient’s discomfort.
Dr. Bojrab said in the report that the procedure is only for patients experiencing the early stages of lumbar spinal stenosis.
