Scott Leary, MD (Scripps, San Diego). Dr. Leary is a spine surgeon and neurosurgeon at Scripps. His practice focuses on degenerative conditions, spinal trauma, scoliosis, spinal tumors and back pain. He has several articles published in peer reviewed journals and three cover articles for the journal Neurosurgery. He is still active in clinical trials for the FDAD on symptomatic degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis.

 

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Leary is focused on research and was a finalist for the Health Care Champion Award for Innovation and Research in San Diego from the San Diego Business Journal. He is one of few surgeons performing video-assisted thoracic spine surgery.

 

Dr. Leary earned his medical degree at Washington University in St. Louis and completed his neurosurgery training at the Los Angeles County – University of Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles. He completed a complex spine surgery fellowship under John Regan, MD, in Los Angeles.
