Dr. Fred A SweetFred Sweet, MD (Rockford Spine Center, Rockford, Ill.). Dr. Sweet is co-founder of Rockford Spine Center and treats patients with a range of spinal conditions. He is also a clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois in Rockford. Dr. Sweet is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, North American Spine Society and Scoliosis Research Society.

 

Before founding Rockford Spine Center, Dr. Sweet completed a tour of duty in the United States Navy as a medical officer during the first Gulf War. He provides charitable care at Walter Lawson’s Children Home and Rebound Pediatric Clinic. He also travels to third world countries to provide care for under-served patients with spinal deformities as part of Childspring International. 

 

Dr. Sweet earned his medical degree at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago and completed his residency in general and orthopedic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis. His additional training includes a spine surgery fellowship at Washington University.
