John Shim, MD (ShimSpine, Tampa Bay, Fla.).
Dr. Shim has practiced spine surgery in Tampa Bay since 1993 and is chief of surgery at Mease Hospitals. He also serves as director of the Maese Dunedin Neuro-Ortho Spine Center.
Dr. Shim has a special interest in outpatient neck and back surgery and is a fellow of the North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He holds a teaching appointment at Morton Plant Mease Family Practice Residency Program and has published several articles in peer-review journals.
Dr. Shim earned his medical degree at State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Syracuse and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Montefiore Medical Center Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Yeshiva University in New York. His additional training includes a fellowship in advanced studies in spine surgery at New England Baptist Hospital/Tufts University School of Medicine.
