The patient was born with several medical conditions, including clubfoot, arthrogryposis and brain bleeding. She later developed scoliosis, which impeded several bodily functions. Dr. Weinstein performed a spinal fusion to correct the scoliosis in July and is now in recovery.

The patient will be featured as the “Kid Captain” at the Iowa Hawkeye football game later this year, when the team hosts cross-state rivals the Iowa State Cyclones.
