The departments will also share a director Joseph Moskal, MD. Some surgeons from Carilion Clinic will teach at the medical school and students will be able to do rotations at the hospital.
“In the best of all worlds we choose to share department heads and departments — this is an example of that,” Cynda Johnson, MD, president and dean of the medical school, told The Roanoke Star. “Something beneficial both to Carilion and the medical school.”
