Dr. Sandberg and his wife were married in residency and “the only honeymoon they had was when they got to hang out in the surgical room together.” He is now the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Mischer Neuroscience Institute of Memorial Hermann and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
