Richard Guyer, MD (Texas Back Institute, Plano). Dr. Guyer is the director of the Texas Back Institute Spine Fellowship Program. He also serves as founder and chairman of the board for the Texas Back Institute Research Foundation. He’s been a clinical professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Guyer serves as an editorial board member of Spine and The Spine Journal. He has also been president of the North American Spine Society. His research received several wards, including the David Selby Award from the North American Spine Society and the Volvo Award for low back pain research.
Dr. Guyer earned his medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia and completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. His additional training includes a spine fellowship at Case Western Reserve University and another fellowship under Leon Wiltse, MD.
