
Purnendu Gupta, MD (Chicago Center for Orthopedics at Weiss Memorial Hospital). Dr. Gupta is the medical director of the Chicago Spine Center at the Chicago Center for Orthopedics at Weiss Memorial Hospital. He also serves as a clinical professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois and is active in clinical outcomes research on spinal surgical techniques. His basic science research focuses on bone morphogenetic protein.
During his career, Dr. Gupta received the Spine Volvo Award in Biomechanics from the International Society for the Study of the Lumbar Spine. He serves on the editorial boards for The Spine Journal, Clinical Biomechanics and American Journal of Sports Medicine for spinal topics. He is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society and North American Spine Society.
Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he also completed his residency. His additional training includes a spine fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis.
