Christopher DeWald, MD (Rush University Medical Center, Chicago). Dr. DeWald is an orthopedic spine surgeon at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and serves as director of the section of spinal deformity at Rush University Medical Center. He is also an assistant professor in the department of orthopedic surgery at Rush.
Dr. DeWald is a fellow of the Scoliosis Research Society, North American Spine Society and American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. DeWald has presented at professional meetings around the country and serves on the editorial advisory board for the Spine Journal and Journal of Spinal Disorders and Techniques. He has a special interest in advanced spine surgery techniques.
Dr. DeWald earned his medical degree at Rush Medical College, Rush University in Chicago and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois Hospital and Clinics. His additional training includes a fellowship at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center/Shriner’s Hospital for Crippled Children in Chicago. He also underwent a traveling fellowship where he studied spine surgery in Germany, France and Japan.
