Dr. Jeffrey Sawyer First in Memphis to Perform Pediatric Scoliosis Surgery Using MAGEC System

Jeffrey Sawyer, MD, has performed pediatric scoliosis surgery using the MAGEC Spinal Bracing and Distraction System — the first in Memphis, Tenn., and 10th in the United States, since the system received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, according to a Memphis Business Journal report.

The system is used to treat scoliosis by correcting the spine gradually in a non-invasive manner. Dr. Sawyer performed the procedure at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis.

Dr. Sawyer practices with Germantown, Tenn.-based Campbell Clinic Orthopaedics and is a fellowship-trained surgeon. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and Scoliosis Research Society.
